HAPPIER TIMES: Mr Gannon with wife, Patrice Chambers

A JAMAICAN bride abandoned her British husband 20 minutes after arriving at his UK home, it has been reported.

Johnny Gannon paid £5,000 for a visa so Patrice Chambers could join him in his council flat in Perth, Scotland after their wedding on the Caribbean island.

But no sooner had they walked through the door on Saturday afternoon (July 16), when Chambers announced she was leaving.

The charity worker said he believes that the 24-year-old fled to Bristol to meet a Jamaican boyfriend with whom she had organised the scheme.

Mr Gannon told The Daily Mirror: “I was looking forward to spending the rest of my life with Patrice but I think she had planned all along to do this.”

The 57-year-old, who had originally met Chambers while on holiday two years ago, continued:

“My relationship with her wasn’t something I’d done by mail order.

“I’ve known her for two years and it seemed very much like the real thing to me. She has used me and I feel humiliated.

“I had a vision of happiness laid out. I feel like a bit of a fool.”

Divorced Mr Gannon has since reported the incident to police and plans to contact UK Border Agency officials to try and have his wife's visa revoked.
