SHOCKING: 5-Hour Energy drink could be linked to 13 deaths
THE US Food and Drug Administration [FDA] are investigating 13 deaths that may be linked to energy drink, '5-hour Energy'.
According to AFP an FDA spokeswoman informed them yesterday [Nov 16] that they will be looking into reports of ‘illness, injury or death of people who took products marketed under the label 5-Hour Energy.’
She also told the website that there have been a total of 92 patients including 33 hospitalizations and 13 deaths, connected to their investigation.
While the allegations against the beverage company are damaging, she emphasised that the product has yet to be proven as the direct cause of the deaths in question.
"The existence of an adverse event report does not necessarily mean that the product identified in the report actually caused the adverse event," she added.
Since news of the scare broke maker's of 5-hour Energy, Living Essentials reportedly announced that they are taking the allegations ‘very seriously’.
The company were also quoted as saying that there is no evidence that any deaths were caused by consuming the drink.
