SHOPPING SPREE: U.S First Lady Michelle Obama is rumoured to have splashed $50,000 at luxury lingerie, Agent Prvocateur

U.S. FIRST LADY Michelle Obama is said to have spent almost $50,000 at the luxury lingerie store, Agent Provocateur, it has been reported.

The New York store is believed to have partially closed down to give Mrs Obama and the Queen of Qatar, Sheikha Mozah, privacy when the two women stopped by last year.

The 48-year-old's visit is said to have boosted the final sales for the lingerie brand up to 12 percent in 2011, The Telgraph reported.

The British luxury lingerie boutique, which evokes Hollywood glamour, has garnered a lot of celebrity clientèle, which includes singers Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera.

Agent Provocateur, founded by the son of fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, Joseph Corré, and his then-wife, Serena Rees, in 1994, was bought out by private equity firm 3i in 2007 for a reported $108.5million.
