Ali still proving to be a fighter

FIGHTER: Muhammad Ali

MUHAMMAD ALI'S daughters have denied rumours that the legendary boxer is nearing the end of his life.

Hana and May May gave an exclusive interview to American show NBC News Today as they aimed to quell fears that the former champion boxer had taken a turn for the worse.

May May said: “Unfortunately, certain family members that don’t understand Parkinson’s might misspeak because they don’t see him as often so when they do see him, they think he’s doing worse than what he is.

“But he is fine people, don’t be worried.”

Ali, arguably the greatest sportsman in history, has been suffering from the disease since 1984 and there were visible gasps at his vulnerable state when he was seen at the Olympics in London during 2012.

His stark deterioration has been saddening for his family and his many fans around the world.

Hana added: “For me that’s been frustrating, my father still communicates and we’re lucky to be able to talk to him and see him more often than most people, so we still get it, it’s just a softer voice.

“Now we have the blessing of these audio recordings.”
Hana was referring to the tapes being used in a new documentary about the 72-year-old's dramatic life.
