Alicia Keys and Usher to perform at Inaugural Ball

PERFORMERS: Alicia Keys and Usher

ALICIA KEYS and Usher have been announced as some of the stars that will perform for the US president and first lady at this year's Inaugural Ball.

The R&B singers will join a string of other acts at the grand fete, which will take place the night of President Barack Obama's inauguration on January 21 at the Washington Convention Center, including Katy Perry, Smokey Robinson and Brad Paisley.

Artists Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor are set to sing on the steps of the Capitol to commemorate President Obama's official signing into office for a second term.

Last year Beyoncé, who will perform the national anthem at the event, stunned crowds with her performance of Etta James classic At Last.

Tickets to the showcase have sold out with spaces only remaining for Obama's staff.
