RETIRED: Peter Dolara departs from struggling company
THE SENIOR vice president of American Airlines has announced his retirement.
Peter Dolara, heads a region that is the largest operating unit in the American Airlines system - of Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America is set to leave the office in June.
His departure from AA has been tagged a 'blow to the Caribbean', by a highly placed source in the airline industry.
Under Dolara’s leadership, the Miami hub has become the largest international gateway in American’s network, with more than 9,000 employees and daily nonstop service to virtually every major business and vacation market throughout the countries he has responsibility for.
In his substantive post he handles all aspects of American’s airport operations, sales activities, customer service, cargo sales and services and scheduling activities in the Caribbean and Latin America.
Dolara joined American Airlines in 1971 when the company he worked for, Trans Caribbean Airways was acquired by the carrier. He has since held numerous sales positions and was Sales Manager for American’s Eastern Division, based in New York City, when he was promoted to Vice President-Atlantic/Caribbean and New York City Sales in March 1984.
He was promoted to Senior Vice President in October 1989 and moved to Greater Miami in 1992.
