SHOW TIME: Angie Le Mar
ONE OF the leading figures of the UK black comedy scene is gearing up for her first stand-up comedy show in 10 years, where she’ll pay homage to her church roots.
An Audience With Angie Le Mar will see the British comedienne entertain the crowd with tales of growing up in a strict Pentecostal church, her experience of leaving church to pursue her personal dreams and ambitions, and returning back again, and finding a place for her God given talents within the church.
She explained: “I grew up in a Christian family and up until my teenage years, my social life was centred around the church. It was a place filled with great singers, musicians and preachers, but I didn’t see no room within it for my gift of comedy, so when I was able to I left, to pursue my own goals.”
In pursuance of her dream to make people laugh, Le Mar not only conquered the black comedy scene, where she was crowned the Queen of UK comedy, she has also served as a Radio Presenter, TV host, producer, playwright, actress, writer, director and Entrepreneur.
However, following various personal struggles and negatives experiences, Angie found herself back in church and re-committed her life to God.
Le Mar said of her upcoming show: “This night is going to be unmissable, and there’s no better way to share some amazing stories with laughter than where it started, in the Church."
An Audience With Angie Le Mar takes place on November 30 at the New Testament Assembly, 7 Beechcroft Road, Tooting, London SW17 4BU. Tickets https://www.facebook.com/events/463601080420750/ for full details.
