Appeal to identify man found dead in river

DO YOU KNOW THIS MAN?: Appeal to trace identity of man found dead in dock

POLICE ARE appealing to the public to assist in identifying a person whose body was found floating in Greenland Dock, Rotherhithe last month.

On September 18 officers were called to the scene at approximately 4.40pm following calls from members of the public who saw the body floating in the water.

The Metropolitan Police's Marine Support Unit recovered the body but the deceased remains unknown.

In a bid to indentify the man police have released an artistic impression his face in the hope that someone will recognise him as someone they know or have seen.

The man is described as a 6ft 2ins tall black male of heavy build and is believed to be aged about 35 years.

The body was fully clothed, wearing a black Tommy Hilfiger long-sleeved T-shirt, blue jeans with a belt, and black 'Kangol' slip on shoes.

Greenland Dock is situated near to Surrey Quays Shopping Centre and Surrey Quays and Canada Water underground stations.

It is also served by Greenland Pier river boat terminal.
