Ashley Cole could make shock Liverpool move

LIVERPOOL HAVE emerged as surprise contenders to sign Chelsea defender Ashley Cole as the England left-back looks certain to have played his final home game at Stamford Bridge.

The 33-year-old is out of contract with the Blues in the summer, and a host of big clubs have been linked to signing the player, including Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

However, Liverpool could make a decisive move for the player who is regarded as one of world football’s best left-backs.

Meanwhile, Chelsea may turn their attentions to 18-year-old Luke Shaw, who is a target for a number of sides, which could result in an expensive bidding war for the Southampton defender.

In order to avoid such a cost, the Blues could instead bid for Spanish left-back Alberto Moreno, a highly-rated player at Sevilla who is valued at about £15m, significantly cheaper than Shaw’s estimated worth of £30m.
