Ashley Young pulls out of England squad

OUT INJURED: Ashley Young (PA)

ENGLAND’S ASHLEY Young has been forced out of the squad for the friendly game against Scotland through injury.

The 28-year-old winger has been named in Roy Hodgson’s provisional squad, but has now been confirmed not available.

He missed Manchester United’s 2-0 Charity Shield win against Wigan on Sunday – an ongoing ankle problem is believed to have kept him sidelined.

The England boss has not yet called up a replacement for the match that takes place on Wednesday evening (August 14).

Senior England players and the Under-21 squad are training together at St George’s Park, with both teams being managed by Hodgson in their respective games against their Scottish opponents.

The FA is still searching for coach to succeed Stuart Pearce and manage the Under-21s.
