ASOS team up with African bloggers for new range

FASHION BRAND ASOS is collaborating with African bloggers to create a new, authentic collection

Kenya fashion influencers 2 Many Siblings will have close input in the capsule ‘Made in Kenya’ range, which is expected to highlight diverse fashion from within the continent.

2 Many Siblings is a brother and sister duo, renowned for their epic style and celebrated for helping to bring Kenyan fashion to the fore. They run Thrift Social Nairobi – a project of ‘physical celebrations of art and wearable things’.

Vella Rossa and Oliver Asike announced the collaboration on Instagram – mentioning that British model and designer Leomie Anderson is also involved.

‘So excited to share a little bit of the project we are doing in collaboration with Asos. Together with Leomie Anderson and Julie Adenuga, we will each be designing a capsule collection for their Made In Kenya SS18 line. This will be launched and made available for you sometime soon!’

The clothes are slated to be manufactured by Soko Kenya, a unit in Kenya which aims to provide employment for local people, with a commitment to making an environmental and socioeconomic impact.

The collection is thought to consist of print trousers, dresses and two-pieces.

International brands have previously reduced Africa-inspired fashion to common dashikis (made anywhere else but on the actual continent), kente print and t-shirts. We are here for this collection and its authenticity!
