Aspiring rapper gets chance to record with Wretch 32

LIFE-CHANGING: Osasu Oyemwimina, winner of the Music Potential competition, with UK rapper Wretch 32

UK RAPPER Wretch 32 gave an aspiring musician a chance of a lifetime recently when he joined him for a recording session the studio.

Osasu Oyemwimina, who was recently crowned the winner of Choice FM's I Have a Choice - Music Potential competition, a project which aims to provide diverse high quality opportunities for young people interested in music and radio, beat hundreds of hopefuls to win a coveted recording session with the UK star.

"I attended Music Potential to broaden my music and business knowledge and submitted my demo. I really enjoyed the sessions," said the 23-year-old whose demo tape showcasing his rapping skills won him the top prize.

"Working with Wretch 32 has been a dream come true, I made this track in February and have been trying to get it to him since then. Recording a professional demo is going to be a huge achievement for me," he added.

Music Potential was started last year in a bid to increase employability for young people between the ages of 16-25 wanting to work in the arts.

Oyemwimina, who goes by the stage name of Sasman, said the experience had been "life-changing"

Wretch 32, an Ambassador for the project, shared similar sentiments.

"When you are at this stage in your career, you need all the encouragement and support you can get and I hope that my involvement will inspire Osasu and others who want to have a career in music," he said.
