Assured Anthony Joshua too good for Parker

ON TOP OF THE WORLD: Anthony Joshua

ANTHONY JOSHUA'S domination of boxing's heavyweight division continued with an assured points win over Joseph Parker in Cardiff on March 31.

It was a unanimous points victory for Joshua. Two judges gave it to the pugilist known as 'AJ' by a margin of 118 - 110, with the third scoring it 119 - 109.

Great Briton Joshua entered the bout holding the IBO, WBA and IBF belts, he left the arena with Parker's WBO crown after his latest success.

Joshua, who just now needs Deontay Wilder's WBC title to be one the unified champion, was not at his devastating best but got the job done in front of a 70,000 Welsh crowd.

New Zealander Parker, previously unbeaten, started quickly but was worn down by Joshua's heavy artillery. The visitor sustained a cut in the 10th round as Joshua slowly but surely caught up with his foe.

Joshua's latest win makes it inevitable that he will go on to meet American Wilder in a big money match. The possibility of a Battle of Britain between Joshua and Tyson Fury remains an option if the latter can return to his best. Also on Joshua's radar will be dangerous Russian Alexander Povetkin.

For now Joshua will embrace a deserved rest before looking at his considerable options.
