Athletics boss lauds Mo Farah’s ‘dedication’


THE DIRECTOR of UK Athletics has praised Mo Farah’s dedication to his sport.

The sport’s chief Neil Black said Farah’s decision to compete at the European Team Championships in Gateshead underline the long distance runner’s commitment.

The 30-year-old double Olympic gold medallist will represent Great Britain at the event which begins on June 22.

Black told BBC Sport: “It's a serious part of his plan and programme.

“He understands the bigger picture, that this is more than just him and he has to contribute something back.

“It's him as a person, he loves what he does, embraces it.”

Farah will be performing in the 5,000m at the event in which 11 other European countries will be competing.

Also participating is Perri Shakes-Drayton, 24, who is team captain and will turn out for the 400m.

Christine Ohuruogu, 29, is expected to perform in the 4x400m relay.
