Basketball ace loving life with the London Lions

NEW DEAL: Joe Ikhinmwin

LONDON LIONS fan favourite, Joe Ikhinmwin has inked a two year deal to extend his stay with the Lions at the Copper Box Arena

The 6’6” Ikhinmwin was acquired from the Newcastle Eagles in 2013 and has gone on to double his figures in the Capital. Playing multiple positions for the Lions Ikhinmwin averaged just over 8 points and 4 rebounds per game with several 20 plus performances.

An excited Lions boss Vince Macaulay eulogised about the London-born forward. “It’s great to get Joe back, he’s a player that can continue to get better and better, he is a very strong competitor and works hard to fit into our system.” Ikhinmwin spent four years at South Carolina State University where he averaged six points and three boards in his final two years before graduating in 2012.

“As a young English player we want to continue our tradition of having the most exciting and up and coming British stars in our side” continued Macaulay, “He’s a former GB Under 20, terrific defender and knowing he’ll be with us for a good time is even better still”.

Lions fans can see the team in action at the first home game of the season on October 3 when they take on BBL newcomers, Bristol Flyers, at the Copper Box Arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
