Basketball match overshadowed after fans shot on train

RIVALS: Chicago Bulls (in red) versus Philadelphia 76ers

BANTER BETWEEN two sets of basketball supporters escalated into gunfire in Philadelphia as a man was shot in the stomach and another was shot in the thigh on a train.

Philadelphia police are investigating the incident that occurred after the Chicago Bulls’ 96-89 over the Philadelphia 76ers on December 12.

In what was described by police as “a little bit of banter” from Bulls fans following the win, it soon turned into a quarrel on a train.

CCTV footage on board the train shows three men arguing.

As two men exit, one of them turns to the passenger they were arguing with and opens fire, shooting two men in the process.

A 36-year-old Bulls fan was shot in the stomach and is in a critical condition and another man, 30 – who was shot in the leg while trying to calm the situation – is in a stable condition.

The shooters have been described as between the ages of 16 and 19.

No arrests have been made.
