BEFFTA's looking to inspire

TWO'S COMPANY: BEFFTA founder Pauline Long with entrepreneur Alexander Amosu

THE THIRD edition of the BEFFTA awards (Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, Television and Arts) takes place on October 22.

Staged at the Light House in Camberwell, south east London the occasion will celebrate and honour black and ethnic personalities in film, fashion, television and arts.

Pauline Long, who is the founder and official host of the BEFFTA awards said: “We are thrilled to be back for the third time after two years in the UK and one year in USA.

“We hope the award ceremony will continue to promote and highlight on the achievements of talented personalities from the African and Caribbean community.”

The awards look to highlight the achievements of both the known and the unsung hard working black and ethnic minority personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts worldwide under one roof.

Some of the nominees for this year's awards include TV dance star and winner of Got To Dance Akai, TV presenter Sama Ndango, the hit Nollywood film The Mirror Boy, fashion designer Bestow Elan, Holby City's Jimmy Akingbola and more
Forty-seven main awards will be handed out to winners on the night as voted for by the public, however the special awards category will also be announced on the night.

Previous winners of the special awards category include Choice FM founder Neil Kenlock and beauty guru Sherry Dixon.
