Beverly Knight left shaken after her car goes up in flames

SHAKEN: Beverly Knight

IN A case of life imitating art, Bodyguard star Beverly Knight has reportedly been forced to hire security and escape to a hotel after her car went up in flames last Wednesday (Oct 5).

According to reports, the singer and actress who stars in the West End production of The Bodyguard, was left "really upset" following the incident which prompted her to leave her London home and check into a hotel.

“Beverley is really upset by the ordeal and her management has taken her away from the situation,” a source told The Mirror, “so she’s been booked into the hotel and been given her own bodyguard.”

A Met Police spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a car on fire and investigated to see if it was a result of arson. There’s no evidence to suggest it was started deliberately.”

The 43-year-old stars as Rachel Marron in the West End production of the musical at the Dominion Theatre, a role made famous on screen by Whitney Houston in the 1992 film of the same title.

Marron is targeted by an obsessed fan who plants a bomb in her dressing room. The scare prompts the character to hire a top bodyguard, played by Kevin Costner.

Knight recently opened up about her personal stalker ordeal at the hands of a record label assistant who was convinced the two had a “future together.”

She told the Daily Star Sunday: “Years ago there was a strange guy – he looked bloody strange. And the awkward thing was he worked for the record label in Sweden.

“He believed that we were going to have a future together and we were going to have a life together. He told him mum and dad. I was like ‘argh!’ and then he flew over to take me away. I was thinking ‘hell no’.”
