Birmingham to stand up for Angie Le Mar

UK COMEDIENNE Angie Le Mar has returned from six months filming in Jamaica ready to once again set the comedy circuit alight.

Le Mar, dubbed the ‘Queen of Comedy’, will take to the stage at The Day After Mayday Show at Birmingham’s Drum! on Friday May 2 at 7pm.

Le Mar made a successful return to stand up comedy last November after a 10-year hiatus from the scene.

She then flew to Jamaica to film her new TV series where she interviewed the likes of reggae star Shaggy, popular Jamaican duo Sly and Robbie and former Floetry star Marsha Ambrosius.

“What I wanted to do with this series is show the Jamaica you never get to see. There’s more to this beautiful island than guns and crime,” she told The Voice.

Since her foray into stand-up last year, Angie says she has been quite “selective” about shows she takes on so promises her upcoming appearance will be worth the wait.

“I’m slowly getting back into stand up, but I’ve only been doing selective shows, therefore, those attending need to be ready to laugh until their stomach hurts.”

The annual event, which profiles the very best in UK stand up, will also feature north London comic Kevin Jay, known by his peers as the ‘white boy with attitude.’

Tickets for the show are priced between £11.50 and £16.50 with food available throughout the night.
