Bob Marley: A story told through graphics

DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE: The graphic novel brings reggae legend Bob Marley’s story to life in a new way

OUT TO coincide with the 40th anniversary of the release of Bob Marley’s multi-million selling Exodus, leading comic artist Benito Gallego and writer Jim McCarthy have combined to produce the first biography of Bob Marley in the increasingly popular graphic novel format.

McCarthy tells the full story of Marley’s life, his upbringing in Jamaica that shaped him as an artist, and his global impact as a cultural force.

Marley was a symbol of freedom and change to the world, as well as a legendary singer and songwriter.

By the time of his tragic death at 36, Marley had achieved international fame and acclaim and become a figure of hope and peace in his homeland of Jamaica and beyond.

The Bob Marley Graphic Novel brings his story to life for a new generation of readers. McCarthy has previous in this area of expertise, having authored Godspeed: The Kurt Cobain Graphic.

He studied art at Ealing College, leaving in 1975 and working as an artist in Europe for three years, and currently has four graphic novels in the pipeline for publication.
