TWO OF A KIND: Bolt and Mills (left)

THE WORLD’S fastest man Usain Bolt, and his coach Glen Mills, will be centre of attention again on July 16.

The pair will be special guests at a charity dinner and auction for their Racers Track Club to support the ongoing development of athletics in Jamaica.

July’s event will be hosted by The Voice and the Jamaica National Group in central
London. Featured guests at the event will be athletic legend, Dr. the Hon. Usain Bolt and head of Racers Track Club, The Hon Glen Mills. Over the years, Racers Track Club has nurtured many brilliant Jamaican athletes, under the tutelage of coach Mills, and has produced several world class competitors, including world and Olympic champion and world record holder, Bolt, as well as 2011 100m world champion, Yohan Blake.

EFFORT

Mills expressed his appreciation for the ongoing effort to raise funds for the Racers Track Club.
“Last year, our club hosted its inaugural JN Racers Grand Prix in Kingston and with the committed support of our sponsors, including lead sponsor, Jamaica National (JN), the meet achieved overwhelming success.

He added: “Numerous Jamaican athletes have contributed to the popularity and growth of
athletics in Jamaica and have been dedicated ambassadors for our country. “The Racers Track Club has been instrumental in that regard; and for the development of athletics in Jamaica to be sustained, it is necessary to ensure that our young athletes and clubs realise their full potential and to continue to maintain the success of Jamaica’s athletic programme.”

RECEPTION

The host for the evening will be British Olympic and World Championship medalist, Colin Jackson. A champagne reception, fine cuisine and entertainment are included.
Paulette Simpson, Director of The Voice, said: “As the newspaper celebrates its 35th anniversary, we are pleased to be a part of this significant event. This dinner presents The Voice and The JN Group with the opportunity to recognise the achievements of Usain Bolt and coach Glen Mills and to honour their contribution.”

The auction will offer the chance for guests to acquire unique sports items that have been donated by Jamaican and international athletes; as well as English Premier League football clubs.
