Bolton release captain Zat Knight

BOLTON WANDERERS have released captain Zat Knight along with three other senior players as the Championship club begins its end-of-season clearout.

The 34-year-old centre-back has spent the last five years with the Trotters and was made team leader at the start of the 2013-14 campaign.

Bolton managed to starve off any relegation threat and finished in 14th place, with Knight starting only 24 of the club’s 46 league games.

The side has also let go winger Chris Eagles, full-back Tyrone Mears and keeper Jay Lynch.

Knight, a former Fulham and Aston Villa defender who had a short loan stint at Peterborough, will be on the hunt for his fifth professional club for next season.
