Boxing: Shannon Briggs' pens open letter to Tyson Fury

DREAM: Shannon Briggs

SHANNON BRIGGS wrote to Tyson Fury recently, the contents of the letter was shared with the public and offered the beleaguered a chance to fight him once the American comes off suspension later this year.

Briggs, 46, hasn’t fought since May, 2016 and was reportedly in the running for a showdown with David Haye before the London boxer took on and lost to Tony Bellew. However, since then Briggs has been suspended for failing a doping test and remains unable to box until December.

Looking ahead to the future, Briggs said fighting Fury would be a ‘war’.

“You think McGregor and Mayweather hype was over the top? Imagine me and my 'Gypsy Brother' Tyson going jaw to jaw?", Briggs enthused.

He added:

“The only thing better than the pre-fight circus would be the in ring war we would engage in, two former world heavyweight champions who remain armed and dangerous. I may be mad but I’m also as serious as can be. Briggs-Fury or Fury-Briggs, you would need psychiatrists more than you would judges. Really, the only essentials would be a boxing ring, some gloves and a good referee. This dream fight would not go the distance."
