KILLED: Junior Nkwelle
FIFTEEN-YEAR-old Junior Nkwelle was stabbed to death after a 14-year-old girl allegedly asked her boyfriend to ‘teach him a lesson’, a court heard.
The Old Bailey heard that the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, felt ‘insulted’ or ‘disrespected’ after she and a group of friends had a ‘trivial’ argument with some boys who were playing football nearby.
She was heard allegedly asking the boyfriend, who was 16 at the time of Nkwelle’s murder, to catch a bus to her home so he stab Nkwelle, who was one of the footballers, the court was told.
Prosecutor Jonathan Turner, QC, said the reason for the row may never be known and that there was no quarrel between the girl’s boyfriend and Nkwelle.
“The boyfriend came to the south London estate because he had been told to “teach Junior a lesson”,’ Turner said.
The boyfriend, who also cannot be legally named, travelled to the Loughborough estate in south London, where he allegedly confronted Nkwelle.
The 15-year-old was later found seriously injured in the street just yards from his home on the Loughborough Estate at around 9.24pm on September, 27, 2012, police said.
He had been stabbed in the chest.
Both the girl and her boyfriend, who has since turned 17, deny murder.
The trial continues.
