STUDENTS AT Bristol University have gifted Herman Gordon, a cleaner at the academic institution with £1,500. The money was raised to fund a week's trip for Gordon, who has been described as "the jolliest man" and his wife to visit family in his home country.

The funds were raised by over 230 supporters who donated to the JustGiving page that had described Gordon as “the epitome of happiness”.

A note that was signed by “Bristol Students” accompanied his money where they had thanked Gordon for all his years of “positive energy”.

It read: "You have brightened many of our days and we want you to know that we love and appreciate you."

Gordon who has worked at Bristol University as part of the cleaning staff for 12 years said: “I know that these students are studying. You don't want any negative vibes around them. They speak good things to me, I speak good things to them, and I bless them all.”

Gordon was reportedly overcome with emotion when he received the joyful surprise that came “out of the blue”.

He said: "I don't know if you know that song - 'Many a tear has to fall/But it's all in the game. That's what happened. A lot of tears."

A video was later shared online, which captured Gordon as he broke down in tears.
