Caribbean warned about Storm Irma

THE NATIONAL Hurricane Centre (NHC) in Miami, Florida, identified Tropical Storm Irma after noticing alarming activity near the Cabo Verde Islands earlier this week. Experts are tracking Irma's course and fear she could be headed to the Caribbean.

At the moment, the NHC say that Irma poses no immediate threat, however it could develop into a hurricane by tomorrow.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Brian Thompson warned:

“Steering winds will guide Irma close to the Leeward Islands and then perhaps Puerto Rico and Hispaniola around the middle of next week. At the very least, there will be an increase in surf in the northeastern Caribbean early next week."
