Chambers to tell of his pride and punishment

CHALLENGE: 2012 Pride and Punishment; Tonight will air on March 8, ITV1, at 19.30

DISGRACED SPRINTER Dwain Chambers will tell the story of a sportsman who had it all, who lost it all, and who now faces the prospect of being locked out of the biggest sports show the UK has ever seen.

Chambers will be subject of 2012 Pride and Punishment; Tonight on ITV1 next month.

The Tonight programme has gained exclusive access to athlete Chambers as he is once again back in the headlines.

Nearly a decade on from the start of his ban for doping, Chambers focuses on his sprinting whilst he waits to hear if he will ever be in the running for London 2012.

The programme takes a close look at the British Olympic Association’s uncompromising stance on drugs in sport. The BOA byelaw which prohibits athletes who have been suspended for more than six months from representing Great Britain at the Olympics was recently declared ‘non compliant’ by the World Anti Doping Agency. It was also, WADA advised, a double sanction. Soon the two organisations will meet in the courtroom to battle it out.

It is four years since Chambers himself legally challenged the BOA over their lifetime ban. This time the decision is out of his hands.

With that as a back drop ITV sports editor Steve Scott takes to the road with him as he races abroad and at home.

Chambers reflects upon his monumental mistake and the programme gains an insight into his world today, witnessing the work he is doing to make amends.
