Change of management

INJURED: Tiger Woods

TIGER WOODS has changed his management company. The former golf number one, who misses this week’s Open tournament due to injury, will now be represented by Excel Sports Management.

The move comes because Woods' agent Mark Steinberg, has left leading sports management company IMG last month, and has joined New York-based Excel along with his client.

Steinberg will bring Woods across to Excel which mostly represents NBA and baseball players, including Los Angeles Clippers' Blake Griffin and Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees.

Woods, 35, had been with Cleveland-based IMG since he turned professional in 1996 and has had Steinberg as his agent for the last 12 years during which he had been one of the top earners in world sport.

Woods has been the centre of well-chronicled infidelity problems which led to his divorce last year but is still one of the top earners in sport.

However, the 14-times Major winner will miss this week's Open as he continues to struggle with a left leg injury.

He dropped to 19th in the latest world rankings and has not won since November, 2009.
