Chipmunk designs clothing collection

DESIGNER: Chipmunk tapped into his softer side when he happily posed for a picture with Pudsey, the official mascot for Children in Need, recently

UK RAPPER Chipmunk has turned his hand to designing clothes, but don’t panic, it’s all in the name of charity.

The north London star, along with former X Factor contestant Alexandra Burke, unveiled his limited edition fashion collection for the BBC’s Children in Need Celebrity Style Challenge in Debenhams flagship Oxford Street store.

Donning a padded grey and black camouflaged waistcoat, the 20-year-old, who has developed a streetwear collection for the challenge, said the experience had been a “real learning curve.”

“Designing clothing for the BBC Children in Need Style Challenge has definitely taken me out of my comfort zone. When I perform I know exactly what I’m doing so it was exciting but a real learning curve to take on such a different project,” he said.

He added: “I love my designs though and think this is a fantastic opportunity to connect with my fans through something alongside my music. BBC Children in Need helps so many disadvantaged young people all over the UK, and it’s great to think that anyone who buys my outerwear will be able to support their work too.”

Alexandra Burke, who designed a partywear line as part of the challenge said she also found the process very rewarding.

“I love fashion so to be able to take inspiration from designers I admire and then create dresses of my own couldn’t have been more fun. Plus, the fact that the public will be able to buy the chosen item in Debenhams and help disadvantaged children in the UK at the same time makes this challenge all the more rewarding,” she said

The public will be able to buy the limited range, which goes on sale tomorrow (Nov 10), whilst stocks last. All the money raised will go to BBC Children in Need.
