Columbus Short arrested after 'scuffle' with security guard

MORE HOT WATER: Columbus Short

THINGS ARE going from bad to worse for former Scandal star Columbus Short after he was arrested following a ‘scuffle’ with a security guard at the weekend.

The actor, who was sacked from the hit series after reports of alleged domestic violence against his wife surfaced, was apprehended at Texas watering hole Katy Trail Ice House following an alleged drinking binge, according to TMZ.

The incident started after the 31-year-old, who allegedly had been knocking back the drinks for four hours straight, got up to leave without paying his bar tab, the gossip site revealed.

When a security guard intercepted and tried to talk to him, Short started yelling.

According to TMZ, Short levied accusations of racism at the guard, who was also African American, and the men started fighting.

The scuffle was broken up by a pair of off-duty Dallas police officers who had been in the bar at the time.

“He was like a dog with a bone who wouldn't let it go,” one eyewitness told TMZ.

Short was arrested for public intoxication and taken to jail.

Earlier that day, Short hinted at his state of mind after losing his Scandal role when he tweeted: “Just hit 20k I Love Y'all. My fans really keep me goin. I strive to be better for all of you #RealTalk #Love #Blessed #Happy4th”

The actor announced in April that he would be stepping down from the political thriller after three seasons following his arrest for domestic violence.

He said in a statement: "At this time, I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for three years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today.

"I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast."

Short played attorney Harrison Wright on the series starring Kerry Washington.
