Cunningham ready set for take off

BEST OF ENEMIES: Steve Cunningham (left) with Yoan Pablo Hernandez

TWO TIME IBF cruiserweight champion Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham will defend his title in Neubrandenburg, Germany on October 1.

Cunningham will be making the second defense of his second reign as IBF champion against the WBA interim champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez.

Cunningham said: "I'm real excited that my fight will be shown live in the UK on BoxNation and more so to be working with TRAD. The UK has great boxing fans and I hope to one day fight there."

Cunningham has joined forces with the TRAD Group who are sponsoring his next bout. In June the organisation became title sponsor of the TKO Gym in Canning Town, east London to show their commitment to boxing.

Speaking from the TRAD headquarters in Bow, East London, Hayden Smith said: “Steve is a great champion, we are proud to be associated with him and his upcoming fight.

“We’re really pleased that the fight is to be broadcast in the UK, on BoxNation. British fans will get to watch one of the world’s best boxers in action, live, for the first time. I know that they will become fans just as we all are.”

Cunningham's nickname of 'USS' is reference to his 1994-1998 US Navy service on the aircraft carriers USS America and USS Enterprise.
