MAKING A STATEMENT: Sturridge (centre)
REPRESENTITIVES OF Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge have quashed rumours that the forward demanded Liverpool to pay him £80,000-a-week should he join the Reds in 2013.
The 23-year-old England international has been linked with a move to Anfield when the transfer window re-opens in January as Liverpool lack options upfront, while Sturridge has only started six games for the Blues this season.
Several media outlets have claimed that the potential transfer has turned complicated due to alleged contract negotiations not being agreed.
However, Octagon - the agency who represents the striker - denied the speculation.
"Daniel Sturridge does not conduct his business in public," read the statement.
"He also does not make demands in any negotiation, with regards to salary or his playing position.
“Any contract between a club and a player has to be based on mutual agreement.”
