Daniel Sturridge wins player of month award

GOALS GALORE: Sturridge with his award

DANIEL STURRIDGE has been honoured with the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for his goalscoring exploits for Liverpool in February.

It is the second time this season the 24-year-old has won the gong.

He bagged five goals and two assists last month for the Reds, who now sit second in the table, seven points behind Chelsea but with a game in hand.

Liverpool are top scorers in the league, and Sturridge has contributed 18 of those goals, while his strike partner Luis Suarez is the division’s top scorer with 23.

Meanwhile, West Ham boss Sam Allardyce was given the manager of the month award after overseeing the Hammers’ rise up the table.

The east Londoners won all of their four league games in February and their previous worries of relegation now seem a distant memory as top flight survival is now but all guaranteed.
