Destiny’s Child's Michelle: ‘I've dealt with depression'

OVERCOMING ISSUES: Michelle Williams

ONE THIRD of girl group Destiny’s Child revealed that she has suffered from depression and encouraged others going through the same thing to talk to about it more often.

Gospel singer Michelle Williams, 32, declared that the mental illness had been tough to overcome.

She told the Associated Press: "I had to choose to get out of bed and do whatever I needed to do to be happy.

"We're taught, 'Just go to church and pray about it. The Lord is going to heal you.' Well, in the meantime, I believe God-gifted people, physicians, doctors, therapists — that's your healing. Take advantage of it.”

Williams added: "Go see a professional so that they can assess you. It's OK if you're going through something. Depression is not ok, but it is ok to go get help."

Destiny’s Child are scheduled to perform at the Super Bowl 47 half-time show at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 3.

The girl group recently released the song Nuclear, which was their first track since 2005.
