REUNITED: Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle during Super Bowl performance
DESTINY'S CHILD fans were treated to a surprise performance from the R&B trio at this year's Super Bowl when members, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, joined Beyoncé on stage during her coveted half-time show.
Many had speculated that the girls, who last month announced that they would reform for compilation album, Love Songs, would use this global platform for their first outing since disbanding in 2006.
Beyoncé, dressed in a sexy black leather outfit, sang a medley of her solo hits before announcing the arrival of Kelly and Michelle, both dressed in matching leather ensembles.
The Crazy in Love singer recently admitted miming during her rendition of the American national anthem at the inauguration of President Barack Obama in January, but made sure that there was no controversial backing track in sight for this performance.
Her live showcase prompted an outpouring of love on Twitter:
Television host, Piers Morgan, tweeted: "That was sensational. Madonna, you are officially retired, luv #Beyonce"
He added: "I'm calling it - best half-time #Superbowl performance EVER. #Beyonce"
Her high-octane performance was also said to have caused a power outage in the New Orleans Superdrome, which subsequently paused play for 30 minutes.
Bey's hubby, Jay-Z, who watched his wife's performance from the VIP box, cheekily tweeted: "Lights out!!! Any questions??"
Media mogul, Oprah, added: "PowerSurge #BEYONCEatSuperBowl"
The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL), the highest level of professional American football in the United States, culminating a season that begins in the late summer of the previous calendar year.
More than 150,000 fans packed into New Orleans Mercedes Benz Superdome to watch the Baltimore Ravens take on the San Francisco 49ers for Super Bowl XLVII.
