Diddy joins fight for death row inmate

CAMPAIGN: P Diddy, left, has asked his four million followers to help save death row inmate, Troy Davis, right

MUSIC MOGUL P Diddy has asked his Twitter followers to help a man escape death row in America by urging the authorities to intervene.

The Bad Boy Star took to his official page on the social networking site three hours ago (Sept 21) to ask his four million followers to inundate Attorney General, Eric Holder, to step in and stop the planned execution of Troy Davis.

He wrote: “Call! Attorney General Eric Holder at 2**-3*3-15** urge him to intercede on Troy Davis rt to the world and Call rt now!”

Despite several months of protesting, yesterday it was announced that the Georgia Parole Board had denied Mr Davis, convicted and sentenced to death in August of 1991 for the fatal shooting of off duty police officer Allen MacPhail in the summer of 1989, clemency.

He is scheduled to be executed today (Sept 21) at 7pm Georgia time - midnight, UK time - unless there is a last-minute intervention.

Diddy joins a number of campaigners around the world who are continuing to raise the case with officials in Georgia.

Amnesty International is planning vigils around the world on Wednesday, including outside the US embassy in London from 10pm.

The 42-year-old has always protested his innocence and there was no physical evidence linking him to the crime.
