OUT TO BALL: The men’s London 2012 Olympic basketball team

THE BRITISH Olympic Association has confirmed the members of the 12-man basketball squad for the London 2012 Olympic Games,

It will be only the second time in history that Team GB will be represented in basketball at the Olympics and the first time since the Games were last hosted by London in 1948.

As yet, the squad still do not know who their first opponents will be on July 29 as the qualifying campaign is not yet complete.

Luol Deng of the Chicago Bulls has been selected for the side despite sustaining a hand ligament injury in January.

“We have all worked very hard for this opportunity and to have the final 12 named is exciting,” said the 27-year-old.

“The next few weeks will fly by and I can't wait to step on the court with my teammates at the Games. We plan to make Great Britain proud.”
