Dustin Brown ready for Aussie challenge

GERMAN BORN Dustin Brown will play tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios at Wimbledon on Thursday (June 30).

Their SW19 second-round showdown became a reality after Brown outlasted Dusan Lajovic 4-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and Kyrgios held off Radek Stepanek 6-4, 6-3, 6-7(9), 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

When Brown, who lived in Jamaica for many years, was asked about his thoughts about Kyrgios' style of play and the challenge of playing him, the world no.88 said: "To be honest, I didn't worry about that too much. I just got off this match half an hour ago. Obviously I knew if both of us win, we could play each other.

Australia-born Kyrgios has gained a reputation after his high profile meltdowns on court but Brown is not worried about his 21 year-old opponent when he said: "He's a really nice guy. We are friends. We will go out and have fun and play good tennis. Besides that, not try and worry too much about it.

Brown is well of the threat that the Aussie poses. "Obviously we all know he has a big serve and big forehand. Besides that, we are a gonna go out there and have a good match. He knows what he needs to do and I know what I need to do well. Besides that, I'm trying not no worry too much about it."

Brown, 31, caused one of the shocks of last year's Wimbledon championships with a famous win over legend Rafael Nadal.

"I go out there and try and do what I want to be doing out there. Concentrate and try and give my best, not try to worry too much about my opponents," added Brown.
