Elmo accuser says he was 'pressured' into recanting story

PROBLEMS: Kevin Clash is back in the firing line of sexual abuse allegations

THE MAN who claimed that the voice behind beloved Sesame Street puppet Elmo had a sexual-relationship with him when he was 16-year-old, has alleged that he was ‘pressured’ into recanting his story.

According to TMZ Sheldon Stephens, who recently cleared Kevin Clash of the sexual abuse allegations in a public statement via his lawyer, said he was made to accept a settlement of $125,000.

The 23-year-old’s previous statement that took back the damming allegations read: “[The accuser] wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship. [The accuser] will have no further comment.”

Clash, who always vehemently denied the allegations, also issued a statement in response: “I am relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest. I will not discuss it further.”

Previously he told TMZ: “I had a relationship with [the accuser]. It was between two consenting adults and I am deeply saddened that he is trying to make it into something it was not.”

Stephens was in tears during the ‘final negotiations’ and repeatedly stated that he didn’t want to settle, the site said.

Clash’s lawyer have yet to make comment on the situation.
