Event to empower women's leadership skills

LEADER: Dr Lorna Cork

A WOMAN’S place is in leadership – this is the mantra of an inspirational group set up two years ago called Yes Women Will which is encouraging ‘real’ women to be the best they can be.

They are celebrating their third year on Saturday (Mar 22) with an all-day event at the Hilton Garden Inn, Brindleyplace, Birmingham where they will exchange experiences of how, for example, they have started or expanded their business in the midst of caring responsibilities.

Event organiser Dr Lorna Coke, an experienced researcher and education consultant, said: “Yes Women Will is all about inspiring, encouraging and most importantly equipping women from all sectors to take a leadership position and build their leadership skills from wherever they are.

“I believe women who have improved their lives and communities have a part to play to inspire others and there is a need for inspiration as well as information.”

Female leaders from the business/private sector like Linda Deazle of Deazle Recruitment and Consultancy will share their leadership journeys and deliver informative workshops.

Another woman who embodies the Yes Women Will spirit will tell of how she started writing after taking voluntary redundancy and is now an award winning writer with her own publishing business.

Dr Cork added: “Yes Women Will helps to ensure that women take their rightful place as the leaders of today and tomorrow in business, education, life and the community – while enjoying themselves in the process.

"The event will include music, laughter, leadership development, networking and pampering.”
