Ex West Ham player charged with fraud and money laundering

HARD TIMES: Blair Turgott

A FORMER West Ham player has been charged by the Metropolitan Police with fraud.

22-year-old Blair Turgott was charged with one count of fraud by false representation and one count of money laundering, or converting criminal property.

The charges, issued as part of the Met's taskforce for fraud and linked online crimes, require that Turgott appears before Westminster Magistrate's Court on Friday April 28.

Although the police statement was only yesterday (April 18), the postal charge notice was sent to Turgott last Thursday.

The winger spent a decade as part of the West Ham youth team set-up while turning out for the England national side at every age group up to the U19s.
