Exhibition focuses on black sports coaches

ON TRACK: Olympian Christian Malcolm

TO MARK Black History Month, UK Athletics is hosting a special photographic exhibition to celebrate the significant contribution made by black and minority ethnic coaches to the sport.

Entitled Coach, the exhibition features images of some of the household names, including Olympian Christian Malcolm, who have graced athletics with their endeavours.

It is the brainchild of UK Athletics’ equality, diversity and engagement lead, Donna Fraser; project manager, David Gorgeous, and Ernest Simons, the photographer behind the portraits.

Coach offers an insight into the coaches at work in their daily ‘offices’, which captures the intimacy and importance of strong athlete-coach relationships.

The exhibition is set to be hosted at an exclusive reception hosted by Grant Thornton LLP on October 25. Following that, it will be displayed for the general public to see in the London Borough of Hackney at the Hackney Central Library and Dalston James Library from November 2017 through to April 2018.
