Fan favourite Selasi fails to make Bake Off finals

THE SOUND of hearts shattering around the UK could be heard last night (Oct 19) as amateur baker Selasi Gbormittah failed to make it to the finals of The Great British Bake Off.

The 30-year-old, who has won an army of fans with his cool, calm and collected approach in the kitchen of the hit BBC show, “flaked out” on the patisserie-themed episode.

He was the ninth baker to leave the famous tent, but denied claims that he didn’t feel the heat in the kitchen.

“I dropped the ball. I can’t blame anyone but myself,” the bank worker said.

“I am very laid-back and that can be scary sometimes because I am so chilled, but I feel you don’t need to panic – I look at the things in the best way possible and, being an optimist, I think that’s the best way to get through life.”

Judge May Berry, 81, said: “No one is more sad than me to say goodbye – what a great character. “

The Great British Bake Off will move to Channel 4 next year.
