Farah in for the long haul

WINNER: Farah claims gold at London 2012

MO FARAH'S outstanding career is to take a new direction this spring as the long distance king is to test himself in the marathon in April. The double Olympic champion has announced that he will run in this year's London Marathon.

However, the 29-year-old Briton only intends to complete half of the 26.2-mile race as he continues to target success in both the 5,000m and 10,000m.

Farah, who said he was "excited" to be running in the event on April, plans to eventually run the full distance in the 2014 London Marathon.

Farah, who illuminated the Olympic Stadium last summer, added: “You've got to go and test yourself to see what you can do”

Farah's 2013 season begins with his only indoor race over 3,000m at this weekend's British Grand Prix in Birmingham.
