'First black woman' in road racing dies on 'Deadpool 2' set

REST IN PEACE: Joi 'SJ' Harris

NEW YORKER Joi 'SJ' Harris tragically passed away in Canada on Monday August 14 whilst acting as stuntwoman for Marvel's anticipated movie, Deadpool 2.

Harris was dubbed the 'first black woman in road racing', however Deadpool 2 was her first time transferring those skills to a film set. Local reports confirmed that she successfully performed her motorbike stunt four times before crashing her bike into a building on the fifth take. Harris, who was a member of the American Sportbike Racing Association, was not wearing a helmet.

The racer was impersonating the film's co-star Zazie Beetz, whom audiences will see as character Domino once the film hits cinemas next summer.

Deadpool himself, played by Ryan Reynolds, posted the following tribute on Twitter after Harris' unexpected death:

Filming was suspended for a few days after the tragedy and resumed yesterday.
