FLOYD MAYWEATHER has come under fire for making ‘ignorant’ remarks relating to #MeToo movement on Wednesday (10 January) in what appeared to be a bout of confusion.

A reporter from Men’s Health posed a question to the controversial boxer, in which she drew reference to the movement, but did not get to complete her sentence as he interrupted her saying “The who?"

When the interviewer explained it was “women speaking out about sexual assault,” the fighter shocked those in attendance with the response:“When you say ‘me too’ ... When somebody is like, ‘I got a Rolls Royce,’ I be like ‘me too.’” When somebody say they got a private jet, I say, ‘Me too. I got two. Me too,’” he said.

When the interviewer attempted to interject, he continued: “Well, I didn't know! My Me Too movement from the beginning was whenever somebody said what they have I'm like, ‘me too.’ Somebody say they got a billion dollars, I say, ‘I made a billion dollars, me too’”.

Mayweather's take on #MeToo appeared to be centered around himself and material possessions, leading some to call his character into question or, at least, his knowledge of important current affairs. Eventually, after continued prompting from the reporter, Mayweather stated that “sexual harassment, I don’t think it’s cool at all.”
