The Football Black List is back

EVERYONE’S A WINNER: The later Ugo Ehiogu, who we will be remembered on the night, with FBL winners last March

THE LATEST edition of the Football Black List Celebration will take place on November 8.

The Football Black List, published in The Voice, highlights members of the black community for their contribution across football.

The list focuses not only on those that perform on the field, but also those who work tirelessly behind the scenes and the champions at grassroots level, often referred to as the lifeblood of the beautiful game. Also gaining recognition for their work are those who work in the media either as journalists, broadcasters and pundits.

Supported by the Premier League, the November event continues to show the efforts of those on the list and also brings the football family together.

The first celebration was held at the House of Commons in 2008, before Wembley Stadium hosted the event twice in 2009 and 2010.

Leon Mann, co-founder of the Football Black List, told the Voice of Sport: "We are delighted to have the support of the Premier League once again. Last year's celebration was a huge success and we aim to make this one even better!

"Context is vital here. Black communities are massively under represented at every level of the game away from playing - so we need to make our success stories more visible to help inspire the next generation, while continuing to lobby for greater opportunities for all."

Amongst those on the 2017 list published in July include Best of Africa’s Aisha Hughton (ones to watchj category), Brian Teverden, director of football at Reading (administration) and the PFA’s head of wellbeing Michael Bennett (practitioners).

The Voice is celebrating its 35th birthday this year. Share your Voice memories, comments and birthday wishes on social media, using the following hash tag: #Voice35Years
