Footballer receives ‘lynch’ threat on Twitter

ABUSED: Brown

POLICE HAVE confirmed that they are investigating an incident involving footballer Jason Brown who was racially abused on social network website Twitter.

Speaking after Wales’ 2-1 victory over Scotland on October 13, Welsh goalkeeper Brown – who sat on the bench during the World Cup qualifier - said on Twitter: “What a game. Both sets of fans were brilliant. The Tartan Army was strong.”

However, one user responded saying: “F*** off you d***** c***!!! Hope you get lynched.”

The 30-year-old Aberdeen player reported the incident to police who confirmed in a statement that they are looking into the matter.

“We have received a report from a footballer of an offensive racist comment sent to him over a social networking site. The matter is being investigated,” said Grampian Police.
