RUN IN: George Zimmerman was allegedly caught speeding in possession of a gun (PA)
GEORGE ZIMMERMAN, recently acquitted of murdering teenager Trayvon Martin after shooting the unarmed child dead, has been reportedly caught speeding with a gun in his glove compartment.
TMZ reports the Florida man was pulled over for speeding by officers on Wednesday (July 31), and that police found a handgun concealed in the vehicle.
When asked where he was going, he is quoted as saying: “Nowhere in particular”.
Zimmerman is said to have been stopped at 12.54pm local time, and according to CBS News, he asked the officer if he recognised him from television.
As of yet, the local police department has not commented on the alleged incident.
The speeding claim is the second occasion Zimmerman has made headlines since he was acquitted last month of second-degree murder charges over the death of Trayvon in Febraury 2012.
Days after the judge ruled he could walk free, he reportedly helped a family who were stuck in an overturned vehicle on a Florida motorway – it was claimed he pulled two children from the flipped car and assisted their parents.
