Germany are up for the cup

FANCIED: Germany are amongst the favourites to lift the World Cup

SERGE GNABRY has championed Germany's chance in the World Cup due to the mix of youth and experience in the squad.

The youth international was talking to, about the chances of his countrymen who thrashed Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal 4-0 on June 16 in their opening World Cup fixture.

The 18-year-old said: “It's a very strong squad this time. We've got a lot of young players who have come up in the last few years. They are mixed in with experienced players who have been there for five or six years. I think it's a perfect mixture.

“[They should be] very confident. I see it week in, week out with the three players we have here who are in the Germany squad. Plus there are also those that play for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.”

Gnabry has been tipped as a future international star for the senior team after scoring ten goals in 24 games from Under-16 to Under-19 level.

He has also played ten games for Arsenal's senior team, scoring one league goal.

He added: “So you can see Germany have got a really good squad and I think they’re one of the favourites for this World Cup.”
